Shotgun Fundamentals

Course Overview: (Class & Live Fire)

This class teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of shotguns. It’s focused on providing a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation of one specific shotgun model. This course is 2-3 hours long (based on model of shotgun) and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot and maintain a specific model shotgun. Students will learn rules for safe gun handling; the particular shotgun model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the shotgun; and continued opportunities for skill development.

 

FIREARMS: LEAVE IN YOUR CAR until the INSTRUCTOR asks you to bring them into the classroom. Firearm MUST be in a soft or hard case or range bag. Bring the owner’s manual. When making your reservation tell us what make, model, and gauge of your shotgun. Bring (20 shells of #7 or #8 birdshot) for live fire exercises. Bring a shell pouch, shooter's vest, pants with cargo pockets, or something to hold all of your shotgun shells. No sawed-off shotguns allowed.

BRING: the owner’s manual or a download from the internet, if you're unfamiliar with the operation or disassembly of your firearm.  When making your reservation, tell us your firearm's make, model, and caliber.

NOTE: NO AMMUNITION IN THE CLASSROOM. Leave it in your car.

RENTAL: Don't own a firearm, hearing protection, or eye protection? We can rent you ours. Just let us know when scheduling training. If you have your own hearing and eye protection, bring them.
